The Height of Elegance

With its head in the clouds, the Tower Suite is our crowning glory, sitting proudly under our Saltire and above our 850 acres, and profiting from our most glamorous interiors and unrivalled views of The Glorious Playground. A true home-from-home, it’s a suite as much designed for generous gatherings as quiet contemplation, perched above the porte cochère, where guests have been welcomed for more than a century.

Space to Call Your Own

Spanning three levels, this one-bedroom residence has been transformed into a curated haven of Art Deco design which draws on our rich heritage as one of Scotland’s original railway hotels. From hand-painted murals – which take inspiration from the palette of our home under the Ochil Hills – to carefully selected curiosities that lend themselves to being slowly discovered, each detail has been thoughtfully considered.

The spectacularly appointed roof terrace makes for the perfect aperitif spot, the expansive panelled dining room has been crafted for elegant evenings of jubilation and conversation, and the private spaces are designed with rich, plush furnishings for sinking into at the end of a long day delighting in all that Gleneagles has to offer.

‘In the summer season the suites tended to be occupied by the same person for at least three to four weeks. Each guest would throw a cocktail party for the other occupants of the suites. There was a definite rhythm to life.’ – Gleneagles in the glamorous 20s and 30s

A Storied Suite

Once our guest library, the Tower has always been a place with tales to tell. Decades back, when the space was later transformed into a suite, guests carried forward the tradition of swapping stories.

Handwritten notes were exchanged over the ages between regular visitors who would write to each other in the leather-bound guestbook, updating each other on their stays and the goings on of society’s upper echelons during their time at Gleneagles. Now, a new chapter begins, ready for new stories to be written.

An Address Like No Other

The Tower Suite peeks into view on the approach to Gleneagles, as the winding tree-lined drive curves through the golf courses towards the warmest of welcomes.

It was this remarkable Perthshire landscape that inspired Donald Matheson, General Manager of the Caledonian Railway Company, to create our palatial country hotel in 1910. Today, from the hotel’s only private roof terrace, guests can enjoy the views that captured his imagination and shaped the hotel’s original spirit.
