For those who are completely new to the sport, bouldering is a form of free climbing on small rock formations or, in this case, an artificial wall without the use of ropes or harnesses. It was initially used as a method of training for roped climbs or mountaineering and helped to increase stamina and finger strength at a safe distance from the ground.
In no time you’ll be foot swapping, stepping through and smearing before you know it!
When it comes to climbing, planning your route is a hugely important part of scaling the heights and with varying degrees of route difficulty there’s a challenge for everyone. You’ll learn all about belaying and a number of bouldering skills can be transferred to climbing but planning and efficient movement are the key!
Speed climbing is simply that! Matching sections of wall for you to race side by side to the top of the wall – fastest to the top wins!
