The Culinary Academy at Gleneagles

So committed are we to supporting all our chefs to grow and progress in their career, we’ve established our very own Culinary Academy.

Whether they’re a Commis at the very start of their culinary journey or a seasoned Senior Sous, every chef who comes to work at Gleneagles is automatically enrolled in our Culinary Academy, and is invited to develop in their career at their own pace while being supported every step of the way.

The Culinary Academy is headed up by a dedicated Culinary Development Partner, Gordon Dochard, who brings over 40 years of experience as a chef to the role and looks after the training and development for chefs of all levels at Gleneagles.
Gordon says: “Having access to opportunities for learning, growth and career progression is hugely important to most chefs, and at Gleneagles we’re making sure those opportunities are there in abundance, not just for apprentices or chefs at the start of their career, but at every stage of that journey, even for chefs like me who’ve been donning their whites for decades.
“Mastering technical cooking skills is of course important, but to reach their potential and achieve success, chefs also need to learn how to cultivate the right attitude, how to show up at work each day and, as they gain management responsibilities, how to inspire and lead others.
“The skills, knowledge and self-awareness our chefs develop through the Culinary Academy build not only their capability, but also their confidence, ensuring they’re set up for success in their career – whatever their ambitions might be.”
